"Bad Request" on ECP after installing SP1
After I installed Exchange 2010 SP1, I cannot view any options on the mailbox. It will take me to a login page and after I put my credentials in and press log in or the enter key, the page displayed is a blank page that says "Bad Request" on the top left. Browser compatibility is shot as well. No more Firefox :(

I believe you might have configured the language on OWA using the Set-OWAVirtualDirectory -DefaultClientLanguage command. If it is correct that method is not supported in SP1. You need to use the Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration cmdlet instead. Example below: Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration -Identity username -Language en-us -TimeZone "Eastern Standard Time" After typing the above command on the CAS in the Exchange Management Shell, when accessing the ECP page it will now be successful and you shouldn't receive the 400 BAD Request. In addition, Firefox is compatible with OWA 2010. I believe its Firefox 3.5 and higher which will have a premium experience. Anything lower will be forcing OWA Light. If the language has been configured correctly and the behavior still occurs, also make sure that the Authentication on the OWA directory and the ECP directory are configured to be identical. You can launch the EMC on the CAS. And locate the OWA vdir and the ECP vdir to confirm. Well.. I am the admin and I am pretty sure that I have never ran that command in the ems. Your example didn't work, unfortunately. https://exchange.mydomain.com/owa/auth.owa "This error (HTTP 400 Bad Request) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the web server, but the webpage could not be found because of a problem with the address. For more information about HTTP errors, see Help." In FF this is nowhere nearly as verbose, but it is the same error. Also, I do have FF3.6 and browser compatibility is not in effect. I also tried chrome with the same result

Can you check if the authentication is identical with the OWA vdir and ECP vdir using EMC? Can you specify what you mean by "browser compatibility is not in effect"?MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2007/2010 | MCITP: Server Administrator | MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuring | MCP | MCDST

OWA has ONLY Basic Auth and ECP has Anon. and Basic.I'm changing them around to see if it makes a difference. Firefox will NOT operate any of the functions on OWA, not even to view a different email.

Setting ECP to only basic didn't work. Setting OWA to Anon. didn't work. So, I have matched the settings twice.

Was the change done using the Exchange Management Console or the IIS Manager? For the authentication changes to OWA and ECP they have to be done using Exchange Management Console under the Server Configuration > Client Access.MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2007/2010 | MCITP: Server Administrator | MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuring | MCP | MCDST

Hi, 1. Make sure that the Authentication on ECP match with the Authentication on OWA virtual directory. If it is Basic it should be basic on Both and if it is FBA it should be FBA on both. 2. If the issue persists, try to recreate ECP and OWA directory: a, Backup the IIS configuration. b. Open EMS type: Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "owa (default Web site)" Remove-ECPVirtualDirectory -Identity "ecp (default Web site)" New-OwaVirtualDirectory New-ECPVirtualDirectory c. Reset IIS. Then test to see if the issue persists. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I did try to set the default client language on the owa virtual directory in exchange 2010 SP1. This did break the ECP page. How can i set the default client language for all uses and new users in E2k10 SP1 without using Set-OWAVirtualDirectory -DefaultClientLanguage? Thanks, Jim

Get-Mailbox -Resultsize unlimited | Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration -Language en-US -TimeZone "Eastern Standard Time" http://blog.jamesbmarshall.com/2010/11/configuring-regional-settings-for-all-users-in-liveedu/ Be sure to reset the language on the OWA Virtual Directory "set-OwaVirtualDirectory "owa (default web site)" -DefaultClientLanguage 0"

im getting this same error, however im migrating to ex2010 sp1 (from 2007), and also for me its working via Firefox, just not IE 8. the permissons the OWA and ECP are the same, and the fact its working in FF indicate the issue is IE, but given 99% of my users use IE i have to get it working. You would expect microsofts own Browser would work best with Microsofts products Added Note...... Also this is only an issue externally, internally it works fine, and also works fine on Mobile Devices (tested on Win Mobile 6.1 and Andriod but id assume iPhone works ok too) Ive also noticed that Outlook Anywhere is also not working. So basically its only IE8 and Outlook Anywhere externally that are giving me issues, pity that most of my users utilise both these functions.
